Electric Counterbalanced Quartz Glass Handling Stacker: A Safer Way to Move Fragile Quartz Components

Quartz glass is built to withstand extreme conditions. It resists high temperatures. It offers excellent optical performance. Yet it remains highly vulnerable during material handling.
One sudden impact can chip an edge. Excessive clamping force can damage the surface. An unstable lift can destroy a high-value component in seconds.
This was the central challenge behind a recent SINOLIFT customization project.
The customer needed to transport and lift large circular quartz glass components. The workpieces varied considerably in diameter. Some measured only 300 mm. Others reached 1,000 mm. Individual loads could weigh up to 200 kg.
Manual handling was neither practical nor safe. Standard pallet stackers were also unsuitable because their forks could not securely hold the round, smooth and fragile workpieces.
The solution was a purpose-built Electric Counterbalanced Quartz Glass Handling Stacker.
This customized machine combines powered travel, electric lifting, hydraulic clamping and interchangeable clamps. It supports quartz glass during every stage of the move. It also minimizes direct contact with sensitive surfaces.
The result is a more controlled handling process. It reduces labor demand. More importantly, it helps protect the value already invested in every quartz glass component.
When a 200 kg Quartz Workpiece Cannot Be Treated Like a Pallet
The customer’s problem involved more than lifting capacity.
Quartz glass components are not uniform palletized loads. They are often round. Their surfaces are smooth. Their edges can be especially vulnerable. Conventional forks provide little lateral restraint, while rigid metal clamps can create concentrated pressure and surface damage.
The customer therefore presented several connected challenges.
First, one truck had to handle components with diameters ranging from Ø300 mm to Ø1,000 mm. A fixed clamp would not cover this range effectively. A large clamp could not securely hold the smallest workpiece, while a small clamp could not accommodate the largest one.
Second, the load had to be lifted to a practical working height. The bottom of the clamp needed to reach at least 1,600 mm above the floor. This height was required for production-line transfer, process-machine loading and elevated positioning.
Third, every movement had to be smooth. Quartz glass cannot tolerate rough starts or abrupt stops. Travel speed, lifting speed and clamping speed all needed to remain controllable.
Fourth, direct metal-to-glass contact had to be avoided. The contact surface needed enough strength to secure the load, but it also had to protect the quartz glass from scratches and localized pressure.
Finally, the customer wanted safety redundancy. The workpiece could not depend on clamping force alone. A mechanical bottom support was necessary to help prevent accidental dropping during transport and lifting.
These requirements ruled out a standard warehouse stacker. They called for a specialized Quartz Glass Handling Stacker designed around the workpiece itself.

Building the Machine Around the Glass
SINOLIFT developed a counterbalanced electric handling truck with a dedicated clamping system.
The counterbalanced structure was essential. It provides stability without placing conventional straddle legs directly around or beneath the workpiece. This leaves the load-handling area more open and makes it easier to approach production equipment.
The truck uses electric travel. Speed is continuously adjustable. Operators can move quickly through clear areas and then slow down when approaching a machine, rack or transfer station.
Lifting is also electric. The hydraulic system raises the clamp and workpiece smoothly. The clamp bottom can reach at least 1,600 mm above floor level, allowing the truck to serve different process heights.
Clamping is electrically powered and hydraulically controlled. The operator does not need to tighten a manual fixture around a 200 kg component. This reduces physical effort and helps maintain consistent handling.
Separate hydraulic valve circuits control lifting and clamping. Their speeds can be adjusted. The operator can therefore use a slower clamping action for delicate quartz glass and a suitable lifting speed for controlled vertical positioning.
The machine includes two interchangeable clamp sizes.
The smaller clamp accommodates workpieces from Ø300 mm to Ø550 mm. The larger clamp covers Ø550 mm to Ø1,000 mm. Together, they allow one Quartz Glass Handling Stacker to serve a much broader production range.
Changing the clamp is straightforward. This helps the customer switch between product sizes without purchasing a separate truck for every diameter group.
Nylon clamp plates form the primary contact surfaces. Nylon is less likely to scratch quartz glass than exposed steel. It also helps distribute pressure more evenly across the contact area.
The load-contact arms are manufactured from 304 stainless steel. The quick-release safety bottom support also uses 304 stainless steel. These components offer good corrosion resistance, a clean appearance and dependable service in controlled production environments.
A manually installed bottom support provides additional protection beneath the workpiece. It acts as a secondary restraint after the glass has been clamped. The design is quick-release, so operators can install or remove it without a lengthy setup process.

Product Features and Advantages: Small Details That Prevent Big Losses
The value of this custom machine is not defined by lifting capacity alone. Its main advantage is controlled handling.
Here are the key benefits of the Electric Counterbalanced Quartz Glass Handling Stacker.
1. One Machine Covers a Wide Diameter Range
The two interchangeable clamps accommodate quartz glass components from Ø300 mm to Ø1,000 mm.
This gives the customer more flexibility. It also reduces the need to maintain several dedicated handling machines.
2. Stable Handling of Loads up to 200 kg
The truck is rated for a 200 kg load.
Heavy quartz components can therefore be lifted and transported without depending on multiple workers. This lowers physical strain and reduces the risks associated with coordinated manual lifting.
3. Counterbalanced Stability
The counterbalanced layout helps stabilize the truck during lifting and travel.
It also keeps the area beneath the load more accessible. The operator can approach process equipment without conventional support legs interfering with the workpiece or machine base.
4. Electric Travel with Continuously Variable Speed
The Quartz Glass Handling Stacker uses powered travel.
The operator can select a suitable speed for each part of the route. Slow movement is particularly useful during final alignment, loading and unloading.
5. Powered Lifting and Clamping
Both lifting and clamping are electrically powered.
This simplifies operation. It also reduces the inconsistent force that can result from manual clamping or manual hydraulic pumping.
6. Adjustable Hydraulic Movement
Lifting and clamping are controlled through multiple hydraulic valve circuits.
Movement speed can be adjusted. This allows the machine to approach, clamp and raise the workpiece progressively instead of applying abrupt force.
7. Nylon Contact Surfaces Protect the Glass
The clamp plates are made from nylon.
They create a softer interface between the clamp and the quartz glass. This helps reduce scratching, direct metal contact and concentrated surface pressure.
8. Quick-Change Clamp System
The clamp assembly can be removed and replaced.
Operators can switch between the small and large clamp according to the workpiece diameter. The process is faster than rebuilding or manually adjusting a single fixed attachment beyond its effective range.
9. Secondary Bottom Support
A quick-release safety support can be installed beneath the clamped workpiece.
This provides mechanical protection in addition to hydraulic clamping force. It is especially valuable while the load is raised or transported across the production floor.
10. 304 Stainless Steel Load-Contact Components
The clamp arms and safety bottom support use 304 stainless steel.
This material offers good corrosion resistance. It is also easier to keep clean than untreated carbon-steel contact components.
11. Emergency Manual Brake Release
The drive brake includes a manual release function.
If an electrical or drive-system fault occurs, authorized personnel can release the brake and move the truck manually. The machine is less likely to remain stranded in a production aisle with a valuable load.
12. Practical 1,600 mm Lifting Height
The customized lifting system raises the material to 1,600 mm.
This supports more than floor-level transport. The truck can also position quartz glass at inspection tables, processing machines, storage fixtures and other elevated workstations.
13. Maintenance-Free Battery Configuration
The truck is powered by two 12V/85Ah maintenance-free lead-acid batteries.
This provides a familiar industrial power system without routine battery-water maintenance. Electric power also avoids exhaust emissions at the point of operation.
14. Designed for One-Person Operation
Travel, lifting and clamping functions are integrated into one machine.
A trained operator can complete the handling cycle with less assistance. This makes labor allocation more efficient and creates a more consistent operating procedure.
Where the Quartz Glass Handling Stacker Fits Best
This custom Quartz Glass Handling Stacker is suitable for operations where circular quartz components must be moved without direct fork handling.
Quartz Glass Production Facilities
The truck can move quartz glass between forming, cutting, grinding and polishing processes.
It is particularly useful when workpieces differ in diameter but share similar handling requirements.
Semiconductor Material Production
Quartz glass components are widely used around semiconductor production equipment.
The stacker can support internal transfers between machining, inspection, cleaning and staging areas, subject to the cleanliness requirements of the specific facility.
Photovoltaic and Optical Manufacturing
Large quartz components may be used in thermal, optical or process applications.
The protective nylon clamp plates and controlled hydraulic movements make the machine suitable for transferring delicate round components between production stages.
Loading and Unloading Processing Machines
The counterbalanced structure allows the attachment to approach machine-side transfer positions.
The 1,600 mm lifting capability supports loading heights that cannot be reached through floor-level handling alone.
Inspection and Quality-Control Stations
Large quartz glass parts often require surface, dimensional or optical inspection.
The Quartz Glass Handling Stacker can transport the component to a suitable inspection height and hold it securely during controlled positioning.
Cleaning and Preparation Areas
The 304 stainless steel clamp arms and bottom support are practical for areas where equipment cleanliness matters.
The truck can move workpieces into or away from washing, surface preparation and controlled processing zones, provided the complete truck remains outside any environment requiring a fully stainless or washdown-rated design.
Packaging and Shipping Preparation
Finished quartz glass can be highly valuable.
The stacker can move the component from the final inspection area to a protective crate, transport fixture or packaging station. Controlled movement helps reduce the handling risk at the last stage before shipment.
Temporary Storage and Work-in-Process Transfer
Production does not always move directly from one machine to another.
The truck can transfer workpieces to designated staging stands or storage fixtures while keeping manual handling to a minimum.
Why the Counterbalanced Design Matters
A conventional stacker normally depends on front support legs. Those legs work well with pallets. They can become an obstacle when handling a large circular workpiece or approaching equipment with a closed base.
The counterbalanced Quartz Glass Handling Stacker solves this problem differently.
Its rear counterweight balances the forward load. The front handling zone remains more open. This improves access to machines, stands and process stations.
The design also gives the operator a clearer approach path. There is less need to position support legs around the workpiece. That matters when the quartz glass is large, fragile and difficult to realign manually.
Counterbalance alone does not guarantee safe handling. Correct load-center calculations remain essential. The clamp size must match the workpiece. The rated capacity must never be exceeded.
For this reason, SINOLIFT confirms the final dimensions and structural calculations according to the customer’s actual quartz glass data.
A Safer Handling Cycle from Start to Finish
The operating sequence is straightforward.
The operator first selects the correct clamp. The small clamp is used for diameters from Ø300 mm to Ø550 mm. The large clamp is used for diameters from Ø550 mm to Ø1,000 mm.
The truck then approaches the quartz glass at low speed. The clamp is aligned with the workpiece. Hydraulic clamping is applied gradually.
Once the load is secure, the quick-release bottom support is installed. This creates secondary protection beneath the quartz glass.
The operator raises the workpiece to a safe travel height. The truck can then transport it to the next workstation.
At the destination, the load is positioned carefully. The lifting height is adjusted. The workpiece is lowered onto its stand, machine interface or protective support.
The bottom support is removed. The clamp is released slowly. The truck can then reverse away.
This controlled sequence is easier to standardize than manual handling. It also gives supervisors a clear process for operator training and risk management.
Protect the Glass and Simplify the Move
Quartz glass handling leaves little room for error.
The workpiece may be heavy. Its surface may be finished. Its value may already include several demanding production stages. A handling accident at this point can waste materials, machine time and skilled labor.
The SINOLIFT Electric Counterbalanced Quartz Glass Handling Stacker addresses that risk directly.
It handles loads up to 200 kg. It supports diameters from Ø300 mm to Ø1,000 mm. It lifts material to 1,600 mm. It also combines electric travel, powered lifting, hydraulic clamping, protective nylon contact surfaces and a stainless steel safety bottom support in one customized machine.
Each feature serves a practical purpose. The counterbalanced structure improves access. The interchangeable clamps expand the operating range. Adjustable hydraulic control supports delicate positioning. The manual brake release provides a recovery option when equipment faults occur.
Most importantly, the Quartz Glass Handling Stacker turns an awkward and hazardous task into a controlled material-handling process.
For a customized proposal, customers can provide SINOLIFT with the workpiece diameter, maximum weight, contact-surface requirements, required lifting height, machine-interface dimensions and operating-aisle information. The engineering team can then confirm the clamp geometry, load center and final three-dimensional design.
Protect the quartz glass. Reduce unnecessary manual handling. Give every high-value workpiece a handling solution designed around its shape.
